It’s a paraphrase I’ve heard often used to put down sex workers. It’s sugar coated to sound like a compliment, but in reality, it’s just ignorance. You, as a person, are priceless. You may sell sex, nudity, or just companionship. That is not selling yourself, but more selling your TIME. There’s a big difference there. You cannot be sold, but your time can be. Whether you work in retail or as a stripper, you get paid for the time you work. Some get more than others. Some days you walk away with more. But that is not your worth. That’s your TIMES worth. And really, we spend most of our TIME not making any money at all. We watch TV, sleep, play video games, whatever. So the fact that you get paid to do something, is quite wonderful. Some people don’t. But to summarize my original thought, no one sells themselves. They sell their time for ANY job, sexual or not.

February 19th 1913: Pedro Lascuráin’s presidency

On this day 100 years ago in 1913, Pedro Lascuráin became President of Mexico. He was only in office for around 45 minutes, making his presidency the shortest in history. On 19th February 1913 President Madero was overthrown in a military coup. Also ousted were the next in line to the presidency (the Vice-President and Attorney General), thus Foreign Minister Lascuráin succeeded the presidency. The instigator of the coup, General Huerta, had Lascuráin appoint him Interior Minister (next in line after the Foreign Minister) and then resign, making Huerta President. Lascuráin died in 1952 aged 96.
